The Renewable Energies in Rural Markets Project (PERMER) of the Argentine Ministry of Energy called for tender LPN N ° 6/2021 for the design, construction and initial operation of a photovoltaic generation plant with accumulation, integrated into a distribution mini-grid electric, in the Luracatao Valley of the province of Salta. It is the largest isolated network tendered to date by PERMER. The deadline for submitting offers is September 15. Luracatao, which means high town in the Cacan language, is located more than 2,700 meters above sea level. The valleys mini-grid will guarantee the constant and safe supply of the public electricity service to more than 400 rural homes, nine schools, four health posts, a police station, churches and neighborhood centers in eight Diaguita Calchaquí communities, which will contribute to the development of activities such as the production of wool and fabrics, or the processing of dairy and meat products. The PERMER Project, dependent on the Undersecretariat of Electric Energy, promotes social inclusion and socioeconomic development through rural energization. Executed through IBRD Loan No. 8484, it provides a key input to achieve universal access to the right to energy. By relying on renewable sources, it also contributes to diversifying the national energy matrix. Due to its complexity, it is the most ambitious initiative to date of the PERMER Project and the third photovoltaic plant that the project will build in Salta; the other two were tendered in the departments of Iruya and Oran. The peak power of the photovoltaic generator to be built in Luracatao is 1,239 kW and it will have two 630 kVA diesel generators as cold reserve. The project is coordinated by the Ministry of Energy and the Government of Salta, which will contribute with the medium and low voltage lines to complete the electrification of the valley. |
