| Work Detail | The 17th Academic Council meeting of Sher-e-Kashmir University of Agricultural Sciences & Technology (SKUAST), Jammu, which was held under the chairmanship of SKUAST-Jammu Vice- Chancellor, Prof Pradeep Kumar Sharma, passed various resolutions after detailed discussion on the same. Main resolutions passed in the Academic Council meeting, included; centralization of examination, adoption of uniform all India basis syllabus and other applicable recommendations for B Sc (Hons) Agriculture and B V Sc & A H as recommended by the ICAR Vth Dean’s Committee and Veterinary Council of India with effect from the batch enrolled in 2016-17. The meet approved M Tech (Agriculture Engineering) in two specializations i.e Farm Machinery & Power Engineering and Soil & Water Conservations Engineer-ing; Institutionalized the regulations for pursuing Post-Doctorate Fellowship Progra-mmes and stringent changes in the regulations on curbing the menace of ragging and also introduced the Accidental/Group insurance cover to the national and foreign national students pursuing their degree programmes and also the nomenclature of post graduate courses as per the recommendations of Vth Deans’ Committee Report. Besides, the University created a photographic and media cell, which will aid the academic, research and extension activities of this University. Earlier, Dr Dileep Kachroo, Registrar, SKUAST-J as member secretary of the Council presented the agendas’ of the meeting. In his address, Vice-Chancellor Prof Sharma informed that the ICAR in its 5th Dean’s Committee report had declared the BSc (Hons) Agriculture as a technical degree and the VCI has increased the duration of the BVSc & AH degree programme from 5 years to 5½ years. The other officers, present in the meeting, included Dr Tasleem S Ganai, Director Education; Dr J P Sharma, Director Research; Dr K S Risam, Director Extension; Dr Deepak Kher, PPMO; Dr D P Abrol, Dean, FoA; Dr M M S Zama, Dean, FVSc & AH; Dr S A.Mallick, Dean F B Sc; Dr V. K. Razdan, University Librarian and Heads of all faculties viz Agriculture, Veterinary Sciences & AH and Basic Science including nominated members. |
