Work Detail Netherlands-based logistics company Steder Group managed the global mobilisation for a temporary power plant at Harare in Zimbabwe, Africa.

The most urgent equipment for the project was moved by several chartered cargo airplanes - AN124s and B747Fs models - for the transport out of Dubai, UAE to Harare. The Steder team supervised the complete loading and discharge operation of the airplanes.

Four break bulk transformers with single weights of up to 70 tonnes each and almost 500 containers were shipped from all over the world to be discharged in Durban, South Africa. There Steder teamed up with the South African-based Spedag Interfreight, who made sure that all transformers and containers safely covered the 1,700 kilometres by road to the project site.

Steder arranged for delivery of one hundred and fifty 20 foot DV (dry van) containers and four break bulk transformers from a storage place nearby Dubai within one and a half days to the port of Jebel Ali, UAE. Just in time to catch the first important sailing to Durban, the company said.

Several cable reels with heights up to 4 metres were mobilised out of India, a wheel loader was transported on a low bed trailer out of Tanzania for civil works at the construction site, and more than 30 airfreight shipments, with a total weight of 40 kilograms, were carried out from all over the world.

The complete project took Steder Group - members of the Worldwide Project Consortium for the Netherlands, Djibouti and Ethiopia - two months from May to June 2016.
