Work Detail Amman - Director of the Governmental Procurement Department, Dr. Hazem Khasawneh, said that the department is at the highest level of readiness to secure what the health sector needs, represented by the Ministry of Health, university hospitals and medical services. Al-Khasawneh added during his speech to the Jordan News Agency (Petra) today, Saturday, that the department has tools that facilitate and accelerate procedures to meet the needs as quickly as possible, both at the level of the electronic procurement system and the government procurement system. And he indicated that the insurance of medicines, supplies and equipment is done through bidding, and the contractors who are referred to bids must comply with the conditions contained therein in terms of the period of supply required. He continued, in the event that any undertaker fails to supply, the government procurement immediately begins the procurement procedures on his account to ensure that the stock of materials required by the health authorities will not run out. With regard to the percentage of the general stock of medicines, Al-Khasawneh said, there is no automatic link to view the stock of those parties, despite the existence of a project that will allow the department in the future to view the entities ’balances and follow the minimum stock. He explained that the percentage of the stock of medicines, supplies and medical devices is one of the tasks of the health authorities, and the department does not have any role in this regard at present, and despite that, “government procurement” is in continuous contact with the health authorities to follow up any shortage of medicines or others in this field. Regarding the purchase of kits that help detect cases infected with the Coronavirus, Al-Khasawneh said that the department did not purchase any materials used to detect the virus, and it was not requested. With regard to the bid for drugs for the year 2021, he explained that despite the exceptional circumstances and periods of disruption in the public and private sectors in the public and private sectors due to the Corona pandemic, the department has presented all its bids for medicines, for all drug groups, and for the public health sector. He indicated that the bids have been opened and studied by the Central Purchasing Committee, and many initial referrals have been issued. As of next week, final referrals will be issued for some pharmaceutical groups that have been duly complete
