| Work Detail | City contractors began applying microsurfacing on various streets within the city limits earlier this month. The full schedule for August 27th through September 2nd is as follows: Saturday, August 27th: Pacific, Santa Fe to Front Lakewood Circle Monday, August 29th: Fairdale, Applewood to Brookwood Fairdale, Glen to Edgehill Minneapolis, Ohio to Courtney South, Clark to Ninth Sprecker Tuesday, August 30th: Claflin, Fourth to Norton Cobiren Edgewood Glendale, Albert to Cloud Larkspur Lynn Timber Ridge Wednesday, August 31st: Bentgrass Claflin, Norton to Ohio Parkwood Pinecrest Thursday, September 1st: Briarwood Marymount, south of Cedar Ridge Venus, Hageman to Tulane Hageman, south of Moon and Saturn to Jupiter Neptune, Meadowlark to Jupiter Chukar Court Quail Hollow Drive, asphalt portion Friday, September 2nd: Prairie Lane, Crawford to Quail Hollow Pheasant Circle The work will include applying the asphalt surface treatment and placing temporary pavement markings. On arterial or commercial streets, the contractor will begin setting traffic control at 7 a.m. Temporary traffic control and flaggers will be present to direct vehicles through the work zones and maintain traffic flow; traffic will be reduced to single lanes in both directions during paving. Residences and businesses will be notified if access to driveways will be restricted while work is performed. Each local street will be closed to all traffic between from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. on its scheduled day. The contractor will remind residents to move any vehicles needed during the closure to side streets. Any work not completed on the scheduled day, typically due to weather, will be rescheduled for another day where proper notice can be given to residents. Microsurfacing is a method of pavement surface treatment which prolongs the serviceability of streets by creating a moisture-resistant barrier while increasing the rideability. This process has been successfully used in Salina for many years. Combined with joint and crack sealing, this surface treatment program extends the service life of pavement. |
