The Executive Hydroelectric Commission of the Lempa River (CEL) of El Salvador published this Thursday the bases of the public tender for the development of the design of an electricity generation plant that will also treat wastewater. Interested parties must develop a design for a wastewater treatment plant, a solar photovoltaic system and a small hydroelectric plant. The project, with its three technologies, would have an installed power of 5.2 MW.
The bidding rules will be available from this Thursday, October 22 until November 6, 2020 on the Compraal website.
According to CEL, the plant involves cleaning up 70% of the wastewater in the metropolitan area of ??San Salvador discharged into the Acelhuate and reducing pollution in the reservoirs of the Cerrón Grande, November 5 and September 15 power plants.
In addition, the CEL has announced that, due to the current pandemic, it has postponed the construction of a photovoltaic plant at the 15 de Septiembre hydroelectric plant, whose budget of $ 18.5 million was approved for this year. It is the plant with the highest capacity in CEL and has two units, which initially had a capacity of 78.3 MW each; the first came into operation in September 1983 and the second in March 1984. It consists of a 57.2 meter high rock fill dam, an 8-gate concrete spillway, an integral intake and a surface powerhouse. |
