The Russian "Chomakov" Center for Research and Development of Immuno Vaccines has applied to participate in an international tender for the World Health Organization related to the supply of a vaccine against the emerging corona virus.
"We applied to participate in the international tender of the World Health Organization for the supply of vaccines against coronavirus," Idar Ichmukhametov, the director general of the center of the Russian Academy of Sciences, said in a statement reported by "TASS" news agency on Saturday.
He added: "Our center is the only supplier of vaccines in Russia, as it is accredited by the World Health Organization, and it exports vaccines to more than 50 countries in the world."
He continued: "We will export the full virion vaccines against the Corona virus to the international market after meeting the needs of the Russian market from it."
It is reported that Ichmukhametov announced earlier that the Chomakov Center is planning to carry out preclinical experiments on a coronavirus vaccine by the beginning of August this year, and to complete clinical tests in January 2021.
The Chomakov Center is one of the worlds leading scientific institutions in the field of Medical virology, including the study of poliomyelitis and other intestinal virus infections, encephalitis, coronavirus and viral hepatitis. |
