The Zimbabwe Electricity Transmission and Distribution Company ( ZETDC ) launched a general procurement notice on May 18, relating to a 500 MW project of photovoltaic solar power plants.
The plants are planned at different “strategic” locations , which will be specified by ZETDC. The tender dossier should be available from June 2020, assured the company.
Potential bidders or those needing additional information on the acquisitions and services required can contact them.
Among the project components are the financing and development of power plants, at capacities to be specified by ZETDC; the connection of power stations to the electricity network; the signing of the electricity purchase contracts by the successful tenderers; the operation and maintenance of the plants by the investor; carrying out social projects in the localities of construction of the power stations; capacity building.
By implementing these solar power plants, ZETDC explains that it wants, among other things, to increase the use of renewable energies in the electricity mix, to mitigate the risk induced by climate change on hydroelectric and thermal power stations, to reduce the level of energy imports from Zimbabwe during the day. |
