Dutch energy producer Sonnedix has announced the agreement with Natixis, a French multinational specialized in financial services, to finance Sonnedixs portfolio of photovoltaic projects in Chile, corresponding to the PMGD (Small Distributed Generation Media) segment. The financing structure will give Sonnedix the flexibility to add additional PMGD projects to its portfolio in the country. The company plans to add two new plants that will have an installed capacity of 14 MW between them, by June 2020, and other solar projects with an additional combined capacity of 61 MW during the period of availability of the term loan. According to Axel Thiemann, CEO of Sonnedix, this financing allows us to further expand our presence in the Chilean market and helps establish Sonnedix as a major contributor to the countrys long-term commitment to renewable energy and a stable regulatory environment. We continue to actively seek opportunities to invest and develop projects that help achieve key strategic objectives for the countrys energy system. For his part, Aitor Alava, Managing Director and Head of Infrastructure Finance for Latin America at Natixis, indicated that “this marks the fourth term financing of the PMGD loan portfolio organized by Natixis in the last 12 months; these transactions further consolidate Natixis leadership among financial institutions in the PMGD space. ” The PMGD project segment in Chile was created in 2005 with the aim of encouraging the generation of distributed and greener electricity. Through this PMGD portfolio and other projects such as Atacama Solar, a 171 MWp photovoltaic solar plant located in the Atacama desert , Sonnedix contributes to these objectives and, more generally, to the countrys purpose of achieving that 20% of installed electricity generation capacity comes from non-conventional renewable sources by 2025. |
