Chinese manufacturer Longi Green Energy Technology today announced that it has officially joined the global RE100 initiative led by The Climate Group in association with CDP on March 12, 2020. Longi is committed to sourcing 100% renewable electricity in all of its global operations by 2028 with a provisional target of 70% by 2027.
The global RE100 initiative aims to unite Global Fortune 500 companies like Apple, Google, Facebook, Coca-Cola, Microsoft, Philips and Goldman Sachs to the committed goal of 100% renewable energy in the shortest possible time. To achieve this climate goal, each RE100 company will commit to obtaining 100% of the electricity used in its global operations from renewable energy.
By joining the RE100 initiative, Longi will take greater responsibility for the global development of the low-carbon economy and the achievement of climate goals.
From 2006 to the present, Longis energy strategy is divided into three main stages:
Stage 1: 2006-2015, using traditional energy to produce clean energy.
Stage 2: 2016-present, use clean energy to produce clean energy. Longi manufactures photovoltaic products in Yunnan (China) and Kuching (Malaysia), regions rich in hydroelectric power. The finished products are exported to clients from all over the world, becoming "amplifiers and carriers of clean energy".

In recent years, Longi has installed photovoltaic solar systems on the roofs of its production facilities to promote the use of clean energy. At the same time, it has also developed more than 2 GW of conventional solar and 1.5 GW of commercial and industrial plants.
