Work Detail | If you’ve got Malathion products purchased more than a year ago, you may want to reconsider using them. Health Canada says a toxic chemical call isomalathion can naturally occur over time in malathion products, especially if they’re stored at higher than room temperatures. The agency says to make sure your malathion products are stored around 20 degrees Celsius, away from seeds, fertilizers and other pesticides, and for no more than a year. They add information to dispose of older products can be found by contacting provincial agencies or local municipalities. You may also want to check cleanfarms.ca to see when the upcoming drop-offs for the CleanFARMS program are in your area. Health Canada notes they’re working with manufactures to include the timeline of the toxic isomalathion chemical on labels in the future. |
