Work Detail India-based L&T Construction’s water & effluent treatment business has secured a contract in Oman. The contract involves design and execution of a water infrastructure project to upgrade the Phase II of Al Dhakhlia Water Transmission System. The contract also requires construction of 173km of pipelines for water transmission with associated civil works, 18 RCC water storage reservoirs, five pumping stations with associated mechanical, electrical, control and instrumentation works. L&T divulged that the order value ranges between INR10bn to INR 25bn. It is a repeat order from the client, stated L&T. The company secured the contract in an international competitive bidding. Earlier in February, L&T secured a water Infrastructure order in the UAE to execute a Recycled Water Transmission Pipeline Project. It also acquired an EPC order from National Mineral Development Corporation (NMDC) for the construction of a pump house for Slurry & Water Pipeline Systems. Other major contracts bagged by the company include developing infrastructure works for a hi-tech township at Mahalunge in Pune for Pune Metropolitan Region Development Authority (PMRDA) and an order from Konkan LNG Private Limited (KLPL). L&T Construction is a subsidiary of Indian multinational Larsen & Tourbo which specialises in technology, engineering, construction, manufacturing and financial services with over $21bn in revenue. It operates in over 30 countries worldwide.
