February 20 (Renewables Now) - Germany’s Innogy SE (ETR:IGY) and a unit of utility NEW AG will jointly build a 27-MW wind farm at home after securing an award in the country’s latest technology-neutral tender.
The duo took part in the solicitation with the Juchen cooperative wind project, which calls for the construction of a six-turbine plant in the town with the same name in North Rhine-Westphalia state. Innogy said on Wednesday it is the majority owner of the project with a 51% stake, while NEW Re owns 49%.
The wind park will be installed on recultivated land that was previously part of an open-cast mine, using Nordex N149 4.5 MW turbines. Once up and running, it is expected to generate enough electricity to meet the demand of around 26,000 households.
After getting the go-ahead by the Rhein-Kreis Neuss district authority last November, the project has now received planning permission and an operating licence by the German Federal Network Agency (BNetzA). Innogy and NEW Re plan to launch construction in the second quarter of this year with the aim of bringing the plant online a year later.
Germany’s latest technology-specific procurement round attracted 523 MW of wind projects, with the average surcharge coming at EUR 0.0618 (USD 0.0666) kWh. |
