The strategy of the construction company Besco (subsidiary of the Chilean corporation Besalco) is aimed at the search for new market segments and the potential development in the area of ??its residential housing projects in Lima. This was stated by Javier Salazar, General Manager of the subsidiary in Peru, in a recent interview conducted by the newspaper Gestión.
What activities does Besco SAC plan for this year?
In mining works, we have been working with Quellaveco since last year, and we are working on two works (tailings dam and works related to that dam). The intention is to continue looking at this type of mining works.
What is the next step?
There is interest from other subsidiaries of the Besalco Group (Bescos parent company in Chile) in participating in energy and assembly works. Now Besalco has an area of ??Machinery, specialized in mining service and operation in mine. And there is also the company Orsa, which operates mining tailings and management of environmental liabilities.
How would you operate these new Besalco companies in Peru?
It is expected to look for new works of the Quellaveco style. I have already been declared the initiative that these Besalco subsidiaries work in Peru and bid on projects. There is a human resource in Chile that could work here, in units such as Besalco Montage and Besalco Energy. You also have Kipreos, which is dedicated to transmission lines.
To which headquarters would these companies submit reports?
To management in Peru, with the participation of Besco. The one in Quellaveco is called Besalco Peru, and of that subsidiary, 50% is Besco, and the other 50% is the Chilean company, which is Besalco Construcciones. In Besalco Mining (mining services), Besco has a 20% stake, and 80% has Besalco Machinery.

What real estate developments have been making progress?
There is an increase in the delivery of departments, which is the main business of Besco. There is a growth perspective in 2020 because the Alameda del Rímac project would enter and we are doubling the delivery of departments in all our projects (from 1,442 units in 2019 to 2,965 this year).
In addition to the project in Rímac, departments will be delivered in El Agustino (Nuevo Nogales). There are also projects in Chorrillos (Las Palmas) and Callao (Alta Luz project).
And what jobs do they have in the provinces?
In the provinces we are taking up a project in Piura (Centrika); In this case, the original project was reformulated (now under the Own Roof format), which we believe fits the profile of Piuras client.
Developments in Villa El Salvador
In what situation are the departments of the Villa de los Panamericanos?
We are in charge of adapting the accommodation of the Villas athletes for two months. Today they are becoming departments. It is sought as soon as possible to deliver the homes to the medalists (of the Pan American Games Lima 2019). And eventually it is waiting to start the sales process of the departments. It has not been specified whether the sale will be to the Armed Forces or public employees.
Do you have a schedule?
We must be finishing the adaptation works by the end of March.
Concessions
What other developments are you interested in participating?
We are interested in participating in the Reconstruction with Changes works, since it is known that it will be operated with the same development model that was used to build the Pan American Village (Models G2G and PMO). Our matrix has experience in civil works, we know the model, the specialists, and we see that it can be replicated in the reconstruction works.
And as for developments promoted by the State?
We are always interested in the concessions part. In 2013 we participated in the concession of Norvial on the Ancón-Pativilca road and interest was always maintained in returning to that type of business. We know that ProInversión announced its projects in 2021. So, we are interested in projects such as the Longitudinal de la Sierra in section 4.
We are also interested in the works of headers and water conduction, in which the matrix has experience. We are identifying a potential partner with whom to face these concessions. |
