Work Detail |
The Department of Mineral Resources and Energy intends to launch a Risk Mitigation Power Purchase Programme to alleviate the current electricity supply constraints in the immediate to medium-term, as envisaged in the Integrated Resource Plan (IRP 2019), promulgated in October 2019. This Programme sits alongside other initiatives by the Department of Mineral Resources and Energy to give effect to the IRP 2019. In order to inform the procurement programme design that may be appropriate, the Department invites responses from the market on innovative potential solutions to deliver power generation to the grid as expeditiously as possible. The Department would therefore welcome responses from existing projects, projects that are currently under development and new projects from all technologies which could be considered for procurement under a Risk Mitigation Power Purchase Procurement Programme. The objective of the Request for Information is to analyse options to procure between 2000 – 3000 MWs of power generation capacity that can be grid connected in the shortest time at the least possible cost. To facilitate the preparation of the RFI Response, Respondents may access the website www.ipp-projects.co.za or www.energy.gov.za or www.dmr.gov.za where the document can be downloaded. The RFI Response must be submitted to the Department during office hours and by no later than 31 January 2020 at 10h00, at the following address: The Project Officer RFI Response Medium Term Power Procurement Programme IPP Office Building 9 Bylsbridge Office Park, Cnr Jean & Olivenhoutbosch Ave, Centurion South Africa All queries and requests for clarification in respect of this Request for Information must be addressed to the Project Officer and e-mailed to query_mediumtermpower@ipp-projects.co.za.
