Work Detail Barts Health NHS Trust has issued a prior information notice seeking a supplier to manage its virtual desktop infrastructure in the UK. It is the second-largest NHS Trust in the country and operates five hospitals throughout the City of London and East London. The Trust employs over 16,000 employees and serves a total of 2.5 million patients. In the prior information notice published, Barts Health NHS Trust stated its intention to employ a supplier to provide hosting, support and maintenance for the virtual desktop infrastructure environment presently carried out across the organisation. The value of the contract is estimated to be £10m. According to the notice, the selected firm will be asked to provide a wider range of end-user computing products and services. The Barts Health NHS Trust said: “The Trust would also like to explore the possibility of procuring a wider service wrap and provision to cover further elements of end user computing and end user devices, including gold image build, user administration and device provision and build. “The intention is, through this contract, to iterate and modernise the virtual platforms and end user computing solution and service wrap to further improve the end user experience, and better enable different ways of working across the Trust.” Earlier, through the programme, the Trust had awarded cloud hosting and local area network and network management contracts to modernise and transform infrastructure provision. A formal procurement process is expected to begin on 20 March 2020, when the Trust intends to publish a contact notice for a £10m single-supplier deal. Prospective bidders are invited to attend a one-hour webinar to be hosted by Barts on 11 December 2019 at 3pm, during which it will provide additional information on its computing needs. Subsequent the webinar, suppliers will be asked to attend a face-to-face market engagement event which the Trust intends to assist in outlining the procurement process.
