Work Detail Agri Tech 2016, a four-day agricultural technology exhibition, began at Tamukkam Grounds in the city on Thursday. District collector K Veera Raghava Rao inaugurated the event organised by the Tamil Nadu Agricultural University with the support of private organisers.

The expo, which is inits sixth year, has about 95 stalls displaying various technologies in the field of agriculture, including synchronising drip irrigation facility using mobile phones, solar-powered motors, driers, greenhouses, battery-powered pruners, blowers, trimmers and shredders and machineries like drillers, shredders, balers and harvesters.
Equipment necessary for running dairy farms are on display. Manufacturers of tractors, mini-tractors and earthmovers have also set up stalls.

Many of the farmers who visited the expo flocked to the stalls put up by makers of organic agriculture inputs. There are stalls selling and displaying organic bio-nutrients, fertilisers and organic pesticides. Organic inputs developed using nano-technology are another attraction.

Publishers of agriculture-related publications aimed at farming community have also set up stalls at the expo. Major banks have set up stalls, which have displayed various banking options available for farmers.

The Tamil Nadu Agriculture University (TNAU) has set up around five stalls on crop management and pest management.
