Work Detail The Andhra Pradesh Cabinet has approved a proposal to go ahead with construction of a steel plant in Kadapa. The iron linkage for the project has been finalised with NMDC. The government has identified more than 3,295 acre in the Jammalamadugu mandal of the district and it will acquire land between Sunnapurallapalli and Pedda Nandulur villages. The foundation stone will be laid on 26 December 2019. For development of the project, the government has floated a new company, AP High-Grade Steel Corporation. The government also initiated discussions with some multinational companies to take stake in the proposed steel plant. The cabinet has decided to create a new discom, AP Central Power Distribution Company (APCPDCL) by splitting Krishna, Guntur and Prakasam districts from the existing Andhra Pradesh Southern Power Distribution Company (APSPDCL). While the existing Eastern Power Distribution Company (EPDCL) will manage five districts including two Godavari districts and three districts of north-coastal region, new CPDCL will manage three crucial districts of Krishna, Guntur and Prakasam. SPDCL will oversee power supply in five districts -- Nellore, Chittoor, Kadapa, Kurnool and Anantapur. The Cabinet also granted permission to AP Power Finance Corporation to secure loans from banks to manage its finance. The council of ministers also spared 92.05 acre land for Nadikude-Srikalahasthi railway line project.
