Work Detail Vislink Technologies, a US-based communications equipment company, has secured the renewal of three-year service contracts with 12 UK police forces. The multiple contracts extend the customer support offered by the company for its Airborne Data Link (ADL) infrastructure, which it had previously sold and installed in UK Home Office police operations. The renewed contracts have a combined value of nearly $500,000 over the three-year period. It is the second three-year renewal of the contracts for Vislink Technologies and it includes recurring maintenance, warranty service and training. The communications equipment company said that there is a possibility for purchases of upgrades to installed ground infrastructure as well. This is due to the company’s plans to incorporate new technologies to boost the capabilities for the police forces. Included in the new technologies to be deployed is the Vislink TSM-2020 video aggregator. The company said that TSM-2020 enables the onward transmission of airborne data over 4G and the upcoming 5G networks to tactical ground forces equipped with smartphones and tablets. Vislink Technologies business development, military and government vice-president Tony Price said: “The extension of this contract underscores the strength of the relationship between Vislink Technologies and UK law enforcement agencies. “It further demonstrates our commitment to offering the latest technology solutions to support policing operations.” The company is said to offer a secure, interoperable solution by using its technology for the transmission of high-quality video from aircraft to operational commanders stationed on the ground. The technology is said to be used actively by law enforcement organisations in the US and across the world. In the UK, the company’s technology was picked as part of the UK Home Office Airborne Data Link Migration Project. The objective of the project was to develop a single, common, interoperable national airborne video downlink service. Vislink Technologies is involved in the development and distribution of advanced communication solutions. The company’s solutions include high-definition communication links that capture, transmit and handle live event footage, and also secure video systems for supporting mission-critical applications.
