ŠKODA JS has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) on nuclear cooperation with China Nuclear Power Engineering Company (CNPEC), a subsidiary of China General Nuclear Power Corporation (CGN). CGN has declared its intention to participate in the construction of new nuclear capacities in the Czech Republic, and its engineering offshoot of CNPEC intends to come in contact with the Czech nuclear power supply chain in order to move the preparation of the project forward. ŠKODA JS has repeatedly stressed its interest and readiness to participate in the construction of new nuclear sources in the Czech Republic. She is qualified for this by her more than sixty years of continuous activity in the field and current involvement in projects at home and abroad. Regarding domestic nuclear capacities, ŠKODA JS participated in their construction and is currently providing their service, maintenance and modernization. The involvement in the international division of labor and the ability to adapt to the new conditions is documented by the fact that exports to 14 countries accounted for 68% of sales achieved last year. The company is in contact with potential candidates for the construction of new capacities in the Czech Republic, today signed by the MOU is the first document specifying the content of these negotiations. CNPEC expresses its interest in becoming a general supplier of new nuclear capacities in the Czech Republic on behalf of CNG and ensuring the implementation of the project in all areas. ŠKODA JS offers supplies and services for the nuclear island, polar crane, charging machine, technical support localization of the project to the conditions of Czech legislation, reactor control and management system, project management and construction coordination. The document states that it aims to create a framework for cooperation between stakeholders and simplify it, while not having an exclusive character. In addition to mutual support in the process of preparing the construction of new capacities in the Czech Republic, it also regulates the procedure in case CGN wins the competition. CGN had previously stated in a letter to potential Czech suppliers that it expected their share to be no less than 65%. SKODA JS CNPEC may be invited to participate in the preparation of bids and construction of nuclear power plants in other European countries, the extent of agreement between the parties, SKODA JS will also welcome the offers of equipment supplies for newly constructed sources in China. |
