Although Public Security is the responsibility of the state and an obligation of all, the Aparecida City Hall is investing to improve this area in the municipality. And focused on this process, the Smart City project includes the installation of 600 artificial intelligence video surveillance cameras. At a meeting on Thursday morning at the Administrative City meeting room, Mayor Gustavo Mendanha announced that camera installations will begin next month.
“We are thinking about improving the sense of security of Aparecidas population and of those who pass through the city daily. Therefore, even though it is not an obligation of the municipality, we work with this counterpart that will assist the work of municipal and state security forces. Because the video surveillance equipment that will be installed in the city, have an intelligent system of face recognition and plaque, with this we will change the public security framework in Aparecida, ”said Mayor Gustavo who saw the cameras closely on his last trip to China.
The 600 cameras feature a state-of-the-art Eagle Eyes system that features software that identifies faces and license plates. These equipments will be installed in strategic points of the city, making the surveillance of both the public patrimony and the population. The objective of the administration is to reduce crimes, help identify suspects and enhance the work of the Civil Guard and other public security forces, providing efficient service to citizens and greater security for the population of Aparecida.
De acordo com o Secretário de Mobilidade e Defesa Social, Roberto Cândido, toda a estrutura já está sendo preparada para a instalação das câmeras. “Fizemos um levantamento, juntamente com membros do Gabinete de Gestão Integrada Municipal (GGIM) de Aparecida e juntos decidimos em quais pontos da cidade as câmeras serão instaladas. Queremos com este processo reduzir o índice de criminalidade na cidade e garantir mais segurança para todos, pois o monitoramento poderá inibir a ação dos criminosos”, disse.

Smart City - The installation of video surveillance cameras is part of the Smart City project, which aims to transform Aparecida into a connected and technological city. The initial phase of the project encompasses four main actions: the installation of 540 km of fiber optics, the expansion of the citys video surveillance with the acquisition of 600 face and plate recognition cameras, the deployment of 200 free and free internet points, and hiring its own data center to control public spending.
