PARIS, July 16 (Xinhua) -- Paris 2024 Olympic Games organizers announced on Tuesday that it has received five applications from venues wishing to host the surfing competitions of the quadrennial tournament.
After closing its call for applications at Monday midnight, Paris 2024 revealed that the five venues that have expressed wishes are Biarritz, Community of municipalities of Le Pays Bigouden Sud, Department of Les Landes, Lacanau and French Polynesia.
Paris 2024 said that the key criteria for selecting the venue include the venues experience in hosting surfing competitions, weather conditions, the quality of the body of water, and facilities for hosting athletes and spectators.
Paris 2024 will visit the five candidate venues over the summer. The sites will have to submit a complete application file until September 30.
The surfing competitions venue will be named in the first half of 2020. |
