Work Detail | NEC Corporation of America (NEC), a leading technology integrator of advanced IT, networking, communications, and multimodal biometric solutions, today announced a full schedule of activities in support of the 30th Anniversary AFIS Internet (Automated Fingerprint Identification System) Conference, scheduled for August 28-31 at the OMNI hotel at CNN Center, Atlanta, Georgia. The theme of this year’s conference is “Biometrics On My Mind.” The AFIS Conference leads the way for the professional forensic community, highlighting NEC’s latest developments that are impacting the law enforcement industry. The conference draws the top subject matter experts and experienced practitioners dedicated to the planning and effective management of biometrics-based identification solutions, including fingerprint, palm, facial recognition, iris matching and other modalities. The conference has grown substantially from its roots as an AFIS based biometric identification methodology that uses digital imaging technology to obtain, store, and analyze fingerprint data. Today, the conference highlights a full range of NEC’s identification technologies used by all levels of government from Federal, State, Local and international agencies to assist in solving crime. It draws attendees from outside North America — including Europe, Australia and Asia Pacific. “The partnership established three decades ago between NEC and the law enforcement and public safety community is now stronger than ever,” said Raffie Beroukhim, senior vice president, Biometrics Solutions Division, NEC Corporation of America. “Every year NEC introduces new solutions, expanding our footprint both in market share and geographical presence, we built our success on listening to customers. NEC’s mission is 'Orchestrating a Brighter World'— and this theme forms the foundation of our passion to support public safety. Safety, Security, Equality, and Efficiency are pillars of NEC’s commitment to keep every community safe. Yet, innovation alone is not going to make our communities safer. This is why this AFIS forum is so important. The exchange of information aids us in better understanding needs and challenges, as well as highlighting what is working and what can be further improved. All keys to our mutual success.” |
