Work Detail Skanska USA has won three new contracts worth a combined total of $297mn; one in Seattle, two in New York. The biggest of the three projects, worth $119mn, will see Skanska USA constructan additional entrance to New York City’s historic Pennsylvania Station (Penn Station). The new East Entrance, located on the corner of 33rd Street and Seventh Avenue, will feature a four-story, clear glass canopy that shelters new escalators, a staircase, and an elevator connecting passengers to the Long Island Rail Road (LIRR) and subway corridors below. Construction has begun and will continue throughout 2020. Also in New York, Skanska USA has signed a $94mn contractwith the New York City Economic Development Corporation (NYCEDC) to build the East Midtown Greenway in New York City. Skanska will build a public walkway and bike path along the East River between East 53rd and East 61st Streets and also install a pedestrian bridge at East 54th Street. Work is set to begin in September 2019 and continue through early 2022. The Center for Science and Innovation represents the future of STEM (Science Technology Engineering Mathematics) education at Seattle University. The project includes construction of a new five-story, 111,000-square-foot LEED Gold building, which will house the biology, chemistry and computer science programs. Students will benefit from state-of-the-art research and teaching labs, a computer science project center and a dynamic space available to those wishing to explore, innovate and create. Construction will begin in July 2019 and is scheduled for completion in April 2021.
