The Egyptian Trade Representation Office in Zambia succeeded in providing investment opportunities for Egyptian companies in the field of road development and rehabilitation through two tenders proposed by the Zambian Roads Development Agency for the design, construction, rehabilitation and maintenance of 14 roads in the province of Leopola, The total length of the targeted roads is about 391 kilometers, with an estimated estimated value of about 240 million dollars. The Egyptian Commercial Representation Office in the Zambian capital of Lusaka obtained the tender booklets for the tenders .
This comes within the framework of the efforts of the Egyptian Trade Representative to provide investment opportunities for Egyptian companies as well as to support the participation of Egyptian companies in international tenders of a developmental nature, especially in the African continent.
The head of the commercial office in Lusaka said that the implementation of the projects proposed in February 2020 is expected to be completed in 2025. The contract period for these two projects is five years. During the first two years, the contracting companies will prepare a detailed design for all works. Rehabilitation and improvement required to increase the efficiency of 14 roads to the required level of service, rehabilitate the 14 roads with a width of 5.5 meters, replace 600 mm drainage pipes with 900 mm drainage pipes, carry out improvements in the targeted road sections and maintain or replace the main crossings of the Zambezi River according to Hajj And the establishment of community infrastructure such as storage sheds, shopping kiosks, bus stops and others.
Over the next three years, project operators must maintain service levels achieved on the roads at all times through periodic maintenance, including road re-routing when needed .
According to the general conditions of these tenders, the deadline for submission of the Egyptian construction and construction companies to their technical and price files is October 18, 2019. Bidding will be conducted in a competitive international bidding method using the request for bids specified in the procurement regulations of the borrowers under the supervision of the World Bank .
