June 17 (Renewables Now) - In the first two weeks of June, most power purchase agreement (PPA) announcements we covered came from the US, while Europe was the main source of major tender updates. We start with the most recent stories.
-- Target commits to 100% renewables, inks solar and wind PPAs
US retailer Target Corporation (NYSE:TGT) recently pledged to source 100% of its electricity from renewable sources by 2030 and unveiled the signing of off-take contracts tied to a couple of wind and solar projects. US independent power company Leeward Renewable Energy LLC has struck a virtual PPA with Target for the output of the 79.4-MW Lone Tree wind farm, to be built in Bureau County, Illinois. The retailer has also inked a 15-year PPA with Engie North America Inc for 89 MW of capacity from the 200-MW Sand Fork solar park in Texas. Read more..
-- IMEA inks 50-MW wind PPA for Geronimo-developed project
The Illinois Municipal Electric Agency (IMEA) will purchase 50 MW of electricity from the 194-MW Green River wind project in the state, developed by Geronimo Energy. Read more..
-- Beer cans maker Crown inks wind PPA and joins RE100
US metal packaging producer Crown Holdings Inc (NYSE:CCK) will buy electricity from a wind park in Knox County, Texas, to supply its beverage can plants in the US and Canada. Crown has entered into a virtual VPPA with Longroad Energy for 400,000 MWh of electricity. Read more..

The Sydney Opera House, one Australia’s most iconic heritage buildings, will purchase 16 GWh of wind and solar power to match its electricity consumption and reduce its environmental impact. It has signed a seven-year PPA with Australian energy retailer Flow Power. Read more..

-- EASA invites bids for supply of renewable power to Cologne HQ
The European Union Aviation Safety Agency (EASA) has launched a tender seeking to procure electricity from renewable sources for its headquarters in Cologne. The contract will cover a four-year period starting January 1, 2020. Read more..
-- Recurrent inks PPAs for 250 MW of Texas solar power
US renewables company Recurrent Energy LLC has signed two PPAs for 250 MW/350 MWp from its Maplewood and Maplewood 2 solar projects in West Texas. The power will be bought by a unit of Belgian brewer Anheuser-Busch InBev (EBR:ABI), or AB InBev, and gas pipeline company Energy Transfer. Read more..

Scout Clean Energy LLC said today it has signed a PPA with wholesale electricity provider Minnesota Municipal Power Agency (MMPA) for the output of a 200-MW wind farm in Minnesota. Construction of the plant is scheduled to begin in 2021. Read more..

Brazils state-owned energy research firm EPE unveiled on Tuesday that 100,874 MW of renewable energy projects have been registered for the next auction that will be held on October 17, 2019.
