Procurement News Notice

PNN 21479
Work Detail A major procurement spreadsheet maintained by the U.S. Department of Energy Office of Environmental Management now lists a new contract specifically for the Savannah River Site. The publicly available document was last updated May 10. The "Savannah River Site Integrated Mission Completion Contract" has been tacked on to the first page. A description, solicitation method, contract type, estimated cost and dates for industry meetings, draft solicitation, synopsis, actual solicitation, proposal receipt and award are all labeled "TBD," or to be determined. Inquiries made to the DOE about the new contract were not immediately returned Wednesday. Curiously, two other SRS-specific contracts – operations post-2018 and liquid waste – are no longer featured on the Environmental Management tracker. The DOE in late February announced it was canceling a years-in-the-making SRS liquid waste contract solicitation. The termination was the result of changes to the liquid waste mission as well as opportunities to integrate nuclear material management missions into it, among other things, according to a related DOE statement issued at the time. The DOE has since extended Savannah River Remediations liquid waste contract by 18 months. SRR is led by AECOM. The DOE has also suspended – comparably much earlier – its search for the next SRS management and operations contractor, an overarching spot currently held by Savannah River Nuclear Solutions. SRNSs current contract, a $1 billion extension, is set to expire at the end of July. Last month, SRS deputy manager Thomas Johnson Jr. alluded to a contract extension for the Fluor-led team. "With no active solicitation on the street," the deputy manager said, "you could probably make some assumptions as to what may happen with that contract." The Environmental Management spreadsheet does still list the SRS paramilitary security contract. Proposals for that contract have been received, according to public comments made earlier this week by SRS manager Michael Budney. The spreadsheet has the receipt date listed as May 7.
