COMPANY. Anglo American awarded Epiroc the order for multiple drilling equipment and related equipment to be used at its new Quellaveco open-pit copper mine in Moquegua, Peru. The equipment will help ensure that the mine, which is yet to begin production, will operate with optimum safety, productivity and efficiency. The order totals around MUSD 44 (SEK 385 million). Most of the value of the contracted order was made in the fourth quarter of 2018, while a smaller portion will be realized in the first quarter of 2019.

The order includes Pit Viper 351 and SmartROC D65 drilling rigs, remote operator stations BenchREMOTE, rock drilling tools and HB 10000 hydraulic hammers. The delivery will begin at the beginning of 2020 and will continue until 2021.
Quellaveco represents one of the largest copper reserves in the world and the project will employ thousands of people. Copper production is expected to begin in 2022.
