The National Electrification Administration (NEA) said Lanao del Norte Electric Cooperative Inc. (Laneco) has commissioned and energized its 10 MVA substation and 69 kV subtransmission line that will improve power system efficiency and reliability in the area.
Funded through a P33-million loan from NEA, the facilities are also equipped with supervisory control and data acquisition system to further resolve power distribution issues in central Lanao del Norte.
“The commissioning and infusion into the Laneco system of this substation is a foot in the right direction with the end in view of addressing reliability and other service delivery issues hounding electric cooperatives as demand for electricity has exponentially grown all over the country,” Edgardo Masongsong, NEA administrator, said in a statement.
Sherwin Mañada, Laneco project supervisor and acting general manager, said the facility will also cater to the electricity needs of the ongoing Panguil Bay Bridge project that will connect the provinces of Lanao del Norte and Misamis Occidental.
Laneco currently distributes electricity to 19 municipalities across the province of Lanao del Norte.
Meanwhile, Aboitiz Equity Ventures (AEV) and AboitizPower subsidiary Davao Light and Power Company Inc. donated electrical equipment worth P1.9 million to Lanao Del Sur Electric Cooperative (Lasureco) to help in the continuing restoration of Marawi City.
The Aboitiz Group’s donation is part of the P5.6 million pledge to Lasureco that will comprise transformers, electric poles, wirings and supplies. The first tranche was given last February worth P3.7 million.
“The Aboitiz Group is committed to always lending a helping hand to our fellow Filipinos who are in need of prompt assistance. At the heart of the support we give and driven by the value of responsibility, we made sure that our programs were the kind of assistance that would make a significant impact on the lives of displaced Maranaos,” Sabin Aboitiz, AEV chief operating officer, said in a statement.
Abdul Aziz Datu, Lasureco operations chief, said the first donation of distribution transformers was able to re-energize 42 out of 92 barangays in Marawi City. |
