The French group EDF Renouvelables announced Thursday the signing of a 15-year contract with Shell Energy North-America for the purchase of electricity produced by the Palen photovoltaic project in southern California. The future installation of 500 MWac (AC measurement unit) should be commissioned by the end of 2020, the group said in a statement. The contract signed with Shell Energy Noth-America (SENA) includes the supply of 132 MWp (maximum electrical power) of energy generated by the Maverick 4 portion of the Palen project. This project, set up on an area of ??1,270 hectares dedicated to solar energy, is part of EDFs Cap 2030 plan which aims to double its renewable capacity in the world beyond 50 GW between 2015 and 2030. he said in the statement in which EDF is pleased to have obtained federal authorizations for the construction of the facility. This 500 MWp project gives EDF Renewables an unparalleled position to help energy suppliers like Shell fulfill their long-term obligations under Californias renewable energy promotion policy (RPS - Renewable Portfolio Standard), said Ian Black, Development Director of EDF Renewable in North America. |
