Work Detail The megaproject will cost about one trillion pesos. Its execution, which would begin in the first half of 2019, would last about two years. The mayor of Bogotá, Enrique Peñalosa, announced yesterday the official opening of the bidding process for the construction of Avenida Alsacia - Tintal, a megaproject of 13 kilometers that will have an investment of nearly one billion pesos. It is a huge avenue of six lanes, with wide sidewalks, bike path in all the extension. This is a path that will transform the mobility of the southwest of Bogotá, said Mayor Peñalosa. (Read: Delay costs about $ 5.6 trillion to the transport sector ) At present the inhabitants of neighborhoods such as Las Margaritas, Bosa Occidental, El Porvenir, Gran Britalia, Patio Bonito, Tintal Norte and Calandaima take up to an hour and a half to travel by public transport from the Portal de Las Américas to their homes. When the construction of this avenue is completed, the inhabitants will arrive in less than 30 minutes, since they will circulate through modern and spacious three-lane roads in both directions. With this avenue the travel times will be considerably reduced. We are providing citizens with a better quality of life. It is not only the infrastructure as such, but happiness and transformation in peoples lives, said the director of the Institute of Urban Development (IDU), Yaneth Mantilla. (Read: The renewal of the roads in the capital of the country is progressing at a good pace ). In total there will be more than 1 million and a half citizens of 130 neighborhoods of the towns of Kennedy and Bosa that will benefit from this project. In addition, they can move through a bike path that will interconnect the entire sector with more than 378,000 square meters of public space. More than 1,400 buildings are being purchased and demolished. Its a great job that the IDU is advancing. This work is already generating jobs in demolitions of buildings and transfer of networks, among other aspects. The construction of this avenue will generate more than 20,000 jobs, said the citys president. (Read: In a year the Bogotá metro line would be awarded ) For its part, the IDU technical director of property, María Pilar Grajales, reported that 90% of the total number of properties have already been offered and 428 have been received, equivalent to 40% of this process. It has been very well received, this is a very desired work and the people we came to with the purchase offer have responded quickly and delivered. In addition, the demolitions are going at a very good pace, said Grajales. PROJECT DETAILS Alsace - Tintal will be a corridor parallel to the City of Cali and Boyacá Avenues, and will connect from 13th Street to Bosa Avenue and from there to the South Highway, to leave the city by the neighboring municipality of Soacha. These changes would give a respite to the first two avenues, which circulate a high number of vehicles during peak hours. It is worth remembering that in April 2017, the District awarded the updating of the studies and designs of this important project, which will also allow continuity to Avenida Bosa (between Carrera 80 avenue to the City of Cali), which was delivered by the IDU last July. The public tender, which can already be consulted by entering Secop II, will be divided into five contracts. This will allow to have a better control in the execution of the work and to promote the transparency in the contracting. It is expected that the tender will be awarded and signed in December of this year, and the execution of the work will start in the first semester of 2019. The work would last about two years.
