The Bases Conversion and Development and Authority (BCDA) has accomplished 25 percent of the Clark International Airport expansion project to date, making it on track to complete phase 1 by June 2020, according to Joshua Bingcang, BCDA senior vice president for Business Development and Operations.
Bingcang said this phase will increase the airport passenger capacity of the terminal to eight million per annum.
Bingcang said construction on the site has already moved to superstructure works, where it has started to build the shell of the building and other structures above ground.
He said the materials to be used for the modern roof structure will start to arrive in the country in two months.
A BCDA delegation, together with representatives of Megawide-GMR, which won the bid to build the terminal, recently conducted a Factory Acceptance Test in Vienna, Austria, and Italy to inspect the glued laminated timber or glulam, and aluminum roofing to be used for the new Clark International Airport terminal. |
