Work Detail Reclamation projects in the Ostrava and Karviná regions are in full swing. The DIAMO state-owned company is currently finalizing the reconstruction of the ponds in the Ostrava part of Nová Ves, which damaged the downturns caused by the previous mining in the Jan Šverma mine. This project proves that even the undermined undermined territory can turn into a romantic place where the Ostravans can relax. In the Ostrava region, coal is not being harvested today, yet it still faces the effects of earlier long-term mining. The DIAMO State Enterprise, which is responsible for the mitigation of the consequences of mining activities, recovers the most affected localities. It is currently completing the reconstruction of three ponds in the Ostrava part of Nová Ves, their functionality being heavily reduced due to mining in the Jan Sverma mine (plant 2 in Svinov). "The main construction and technical works for the restoration of ponds are over, and in the autumn we will start biological reclamation. A year later, the center of Ostrava managed to create a nice place with a pleasant natural atmosphere, " said Tomáš Rychtarík, director of DIAMO. "The restoration of the water regime in the system of three ponds consisted in the construction of a drainage pipeline with a length of almost 1 kilometer, which ensured the gravitational drainage of surplus water, restored the surface of the road and the sidewalk, and then the ponds were removed, the banks and the dam were strengthened, including the reconstruction and replenishment of the inlet and " said Josef Havelka, director of ODRAs state-owned subsidiary DIAMO. Of the ponds, 360 fish (carp, amulet and carass overwhelmed) were taken from the ponds in cooperation with the local fishing association and professional fishermen from Jistebark, some of which subsequently returned to the pond system. Part of the project is also the planting of trees and stands and their subsequent 5-year maintenance. A total of 30 deciduous trees and 110 shrubs will be planted. The cost of this project is almost 11 million crowns. At present, ODRA State Branch is working on 12 projects and another 4 are in the project preparation phase. Among the largest and most demanding projects are the rehabilitation and rehabilitation of Wenceslas mine and the former coke plant in Orlová where dangerous substances of the character of tars and other wastes from the coke chemistry process were recovered or reclamation of the sludge flotation of the former Paskov mine and the adjacent Oprechtice brook. In the last 5 years, DIAMO has made reclamation for Ostrava and Karviná for 130 million crowns.
