The Standardization Organization for the Arab States of the Gulf (GCC) has recently launched its project on the transformation to XML technologies and aims to complete the publication and production of standards and projects.
Saud bin Nasser Al Khusaibi, Secretary General of the Standardization Organization, explained that the project of the transformation into XML technologies came from the principle of sustainable partnership adopted by the Authority with Member States, in order to develop and modernize its technical services and provide technical and national, With the aim of raising the quality of the Gulf and national standards and providing the time and effort of the specialists and directing it to focus on the quality of the technical content and the quality of the drafting instead of spending it in the preparation of the form and output and prepare the envelopes manually and the accompanying errors may Affecting the quality of Gulf and national standards.
Al-Khusaibi affirmed that this project comes as a result of the vision of the Authority to lead in standardization within the framework of coordination and integration between the Authority and the national standardization bodies in the Member States.
He added that the first steps of the project were the signing of a contract between the Standardization Organization for the GCC States and the Ministry of Industry, Trade and Tourism in the Kingdom of Bahrain to develop and operate the National Store for Standard Specifications in the Department of Standards and Metrology at the Ministry. 2018 in the Kingdom of Bahrain, and is in coordination with the rest of the Member States in this regard.
Al-Khusaybi pointed out that the project includes work on electronic connectivity to the Gulf standard specifications with their international and national counterparts, and completed the publication and output of Gulf and national standards and technical regulations, simplifying the procedures of standard specifications and providing a unified platform for selling national, Gulf and international standards. The international standard, which has been adopted in the Gulf and national languages ??in its language and without modification, is available in the form of XML from the International Organization for Standardization (ISO) in electronic format, and contributes to the modernization of all relevant systems. The Secretary-General of the Standardization Organization concluded his statement that it is hoped that this project will achieve the upgrading of the quality of the Gulf and national standards by eliminating the human errors resulting from manual entry, providing ownership fees for international organizations, as well as providing the cost of human resources required for manual labor. As well as increasing the number of standards available for purchase, as well as improving the user experience by enabling a preview of the contents of the standard specifications before purchasing them.
