The National Public Procurement Service (Sercop) investigates more than a dozen contracts between the Ecuadorian Institute of Social Security (IESS) and several service providers in their hospitals. This occurs after receiving complaints of alleged irregularities in the contracting processes. The contracts are related to services such as cleaning, food and laundry and are the ones signed by the administration of the IESS de los Ceibos hospital, in Guayaquil, during this year. Outside the center there have been groups of people who denounce that the contracts were signed irregularly. According to their representative, Gabriela Rodríguez, the situation affects dozens of associations registered as suppliers and that would have been excluded in these adjudication processes. The official said that two evaluations are carried out: one to the public procurement process and another to the 14 contracted companies. In total there are more than a dozen adjudications under analysis, which will last about two more weeks. The manager of the IESS hospital in Los Ceibos, Susana Mera, said that the investigation does not worry her. Ensures that as a contractor they complied with all the processes established in the Public Procurement System for laundry, food and cleaning services. The complainants indicated that these complaints will also be presented to the ordinary courts. |
