Karlovy Vary criminals are prosecuted by three men and two legal persons for bribery and grievances in awarding a public contract or a public tender. One of the accused is a member of the board of the city council.
Three accused men, according to the police, in connection with contracts for repairs of municipal property, came to more than two million crowns.
The men, one of whom is also a member of the board of the city council, were crowned with a contract to repair a sports ground. The money from the manipulated orders split.
"The case concerns a sports center, which is 100% owned by the city of Karlovy Vary," said police spokesman Zuzana Týrová.
According to iDNES, the case concerns the KV Arena. Criminal activities related to two repairs in the hall.
Manipulating orders was made easier by the fact that one of the accused figures is in the companys management. "The other of the accused has agreed to an enormous enrichment," the spokesman said.
For the contract, a company in which one of the men is a managing director has collected less than two million crowns from the citys cash desk.
"The costs of the company, however, should have been less than 600 thousand crowns and the rest of the money generated a profit which is considerably disproportionate to the total price of the contract. From him, the man in the companys leadership traveled a bribe in the order of several hundred thousand crowns, "the Týrová case described.
The same was true for the second contract. Here, too, the allegations were manipulated so that the third one won with her company. Of the nine hundred thousand he had only a few tens of thousands of crowns, the rest handed over the remaining accused.
"It is a huge problem for the urban society that is concerned," Petr Kulhánek, Mayor of Kralovy Vary, said, without indicating which of the city companies is going.
"Its a big failure of individuals. But, on the other hand, it is the beginning of a criminal prosecution, so it is certainly necessary to take into account the presumption of innocence, "he added.
Asked whether the presumption of innocence would also apply to one of the accused in the city council, he replied: "My personal opinion is that it should not apply. The risk of damaging the reputation of the city and the urban companies is not good. "
Worry due to crematorium
The man who appears in the inner structure of the city council, the city commission, is also accused of having said about a bribe in connection with the lease of the Karlovy Vary crematorium.
"He promised to extend the lease to the existing tenant, using his influence on the persons who decide on the lease," said Zuzana Týrová. However, the crematorium operator did not accept this offer.
"Anyone who wants what he wants can do it. I do not have a bribe, I have no reason to do so, "commented Irena Fortová, executive director of Fort and sons, who has a crematorium for rent.
Two of the accused at the age of thirty-forty-four are threatened with eight or ten years in prison. The oldest , twenty-six, three years in prison.
