Work Detail Even though the much touted Signature Tower proposed in the city to make it an icon to attract IT investments has not taken off yet, construction of another imposing structure, Millennium Tower, has commenced on a fast-track mode at sea-facing Rushikonda here.

With an aim to provide built-up space to IT companies in an area of three lakh square feet, the construction work of the tower has been entrusted by the AP Industrial Infrastructure Corporation to a reputed construction firm.

Two-phase plan

The project to be taken up in two phases will cost around Rs.100 crore. In the first phase, one tower will be built with two lakh square feet and the other one will be taken up in a separate package, IT Department officials told The Hindu . The first tower will have five floors.

It is located next to the Technology Research and Incubator Park (TRIP), which is known as home for Sunrise Startup Village, on Hill No. 3 of Rushikonda.

APIIC has set August 2017 as the deadline for construction of the first phase of Millennium Tower. It will allot space to IT companies at a concessional rate. Due to shortage of space to IT players, the government has taken nearly 55,000 sft area at the VUDA building in Seethammadhara and a private building on VIP Road on rent. Now, search is on to hire another building in the heart of the city to accommodate more plug-and-play operators.
