Pakistan Procurement News Notice - 1289

Procurement News Notice

PNN 1289
Work Detail Two days after he alleged corruption in Pakistan's Evacuee Trust Property Board (ETPB), the parent body of Pakistan Sikh Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee (PSGPC), the neighbouring country's first Sikh police officer, Gulab Singh, apologized on Saturday for the claims he made in the video posted earlier.

The apology video has been posted on his Facebook account, while the video in which he levelled corruption allegations has been deleted. In the latest video, Gulab said he had posted an emotional appeal on Facebook in which he had used few words that he should not have. "I am a true Pakistani, and I hold all the departments of Pakistan government, including ETPB and PSPGC, in high regard. I tender an apology to the persons whom I had mistakenly mentioned in my emotional post," said Gulab. He had levelled serious charges of corruption on PSGPC chief Tara Singh and a few officials of ETPB for collecting "thousands of dollars" in funds from Sikhs settled in the US and Canada on the pretext of carrying out 'sewa' (voluntary service) at Gurdwara Nankana Sahib and Gurdwara Dera Sahib. In the 53-second video post, Gulab is seen wearing a 'patka' and a T-shirt, while reading his message sitting in a dimly-lit room. In the earlier post, Gulab was seen wearing his police uniform and speaking with confidence.

Sources informed TOI that following his Facebook corruption charges on August 24, the Pakistani Sikh police officer was picked up from his residence and was forced to deny his own claims of corruption while being videographed in the presence of senior ETPB officials. "ETPB is a cash-rich organization infested with corruption, Gulab dared to expose it but was made to shut his mouth," said sources, adding that Singh's revelations would at least make foreign-based Sikhs who generously donate for development of gurdwaras to think twice before donating.
