The most protected Croatian officials as well as foreign VIP officials on official visit to Croatia in the near future will be driven into some of the most expensive and safest limo.
More specifically, it will be driven in blinded limousines worth HRK 6.5 million each after the MUP has published a public tender for two vehicles on the Narodne novine yesterday.
It is looking for two high-class personal vehicles with ballistic equipment for which the Ministry will pay a total of 13 million kunas with VAT, and as we know from experts from the auto industry, the specifications from the competition correspond mainly with three types of vehicles.
These are the Audi A8, the Mercedes S or the BMW 7, which, according to the requirements of the customer, will have to be equipped with a very sophisticated level of protection.
They are designed to be equipped with engine carriers, tear sensors, special tires and rims that allow unperturbed movement (more simply speaking, the possibility of moving the vehicle even if it "spills" the tires), the flag carrier in the front fenders, as well as the ballistic protection of the minimum level of VR9.
It really implies that the armored limo can withstand very serious blows such as a M60, M14 or FAL-FN military rifle at a distance of 10 meters or, in addition, the M16 rifle bullet, 357 Magnum, 44 Magnum and even a 20-millimeter fragmentation bullet .
Additionally, the vehicles must have a system for emergency exit and a hydraulic drive of the safety glass on all doors, and the requirement of a tender is that the limo has at least 460 horsepower because they are extremely heavy (over three tons) so they need a slightly stronger engine so the car could move.
Judging by the specifications, the new vehicles will be better, more protected and more expensive even from the famous armored limo of former Prime Minister Ivo Sanader who had access to the HDZ cashier for its acquisition.
Who will use them
It was worth 4.2 million kunas, which is 50 percent cheaper than the vehicles that are currently being ordered, and it was a model of the BMW 7 High security bulletproof and bulletproof.
The Ministry of the Interior sent an explanation of who is specifically purchased for these vehicles, but security expert Vlatko Cvrtila says that vehicles of this level of safety are generally purchased for the highest level of officials, ie the prime minister and the president, as well as important visitors.
"It would be logical for the vehicles to be purchased for the Prime Minister and the president of the state, and it is important to note that such a type of vehicle requires additional training for drivers because they can not really drive them. I would not go into the specifications and comment on whether the demands are too high, and certainly the top officials demand a certain level of security that involves armored vehicles, "Cvrtila recalled that apart from Ivo Sanader, a vehicle was also used during the presidential mandate, and Stipe Mesic was also used.
