Work Detail |
At the border crossing Vinica along the border with Croatia, they renewed the construction of an additional waiting zone, which began in October last year. The construction will be shifted due to unfavorable land, which will increase the investment by 210,000 euros.
At the Directorate of the Republic of Slovenia for Infrastructure, they stated that the construction of a 200-meter waiting area with a bottom bank, which should be completed by the end of April, was extended by four months due to unstable land, and the final investment amount will slightly exceed half a million euros. For the first time, the construction was extended due to adverse weather.
They explained that at the time of the original contract, which was supposed to be excavated, the layout of the vehicle and traffic signalization, the insurance of the bank and the installation of a protective fence at the top of the excavation, an additional order should be prepared. During the construction, they found that the bank does not have adequate stability and that it should be fortified with a stone-concrete pavement, while in the most problematic part it is anchored by injection.
Because additional works would exceed the original contractual value that can be edited with the annex, they have prepared a new public contract. The contract is "in signing" . The deadline for the works under the new contract is 90 days after its signature. The ending of the works is expected by the end of August, they explained.
Schengen standards
As is known, the additional waiting zone at the border crossing Vinica will enable the safe implementation of border control according to the Schengen standards and, therefore, the abolition of the ban on the passage of goods vehicles weighing more than 7.5 tonnes, which is mainly in the hands of Bela Krajina, is lifted through the Kolpa bridge.
According to the Directorate, the initial construction works on the road R1-218 towards the border crossing Vinica included an excavation in the slopes above the road, the relocation of the cable of the cable and telecommunication cable, and the arrangement of another infrastructure.
Regarding the abolition of the aforementioned ban, they have also announced that this is the responsibility of the government and that the Government, on the proposal of the Ministry of the Interior, has to amend the regulation on the establishment of border crossings.
The ban on heavy trucks
The Secretary of the Ministry of the Interior, Andrej Špenga , announced in April last year that border crossings in the narrow area of ??the border crossing point Vinica will allow only the heavier lorries owned by the locals in the remaining traffic. The remaining transit heavy freight traffic will be banned and redirected to other Border crossing points. The limit on crossing the wine bridge, which is supposed to be capable of carrying at least 30 tons, is expected to rise above 7.5 tons, he said.
In the Crnomelj municipality, where since 2008 efforts have been made to release heavier freight traffic through the border crossing Vinica from the Slovenian side, in order to support the regulation of this issue last year, signatures of Bjelokrainian entrepreneurs were collected. As an additional justification, they attached to their requests an answer to the call that was addressed to the government before this January last year.
Crnomalj mayor Mojca Cemas Stjepanovic said at that time that they called for the call to unblock heavy trucks through the border crossing of Vinica, where local businessmen are facing a limit of 7.5 tons when crossing the bridge over Kolpa. The restriction is valid only from the Slovene side, while there is no restriction from Croatia. |
