The best in Welsh public procurement have been named at a glittering national awards ceremony this week (Thursday 9 November) as Wales’ annual Festival of Procurement came to a close for 2017.
The Government Opportunities (GO) Excellence in Public Procurement Awards were held at the Mercure Holland House in Cardiff to recognise and celebrate the success of public, private and third sector organisations which strive for procurement excellence and innovation in Wales; one of the leading countries in the world for best practice procurement.
The judging panel was made up of experts in procurement from across the UK, including Umar Hussain MBE, Chief Financial Officer, South Wales Police; Sue Moffatt, Commercial Director, Welsh Government and Chair, National Procurement Service (NPS); and Mark Roscow MBE, Director of Procurement Services, NHS Wales Shared Services Partnership.
Cardiff-based print management and reward solutions company iCOM Works Ltd took home the Best Business award for its service providing a complete range of rewards and benefits for employees within the Welsh public sector. iCOM Works provides a secure, easy-access portal to organisations including the NHS and Welsh Government called the Reward Hub, where all the chosen benefits can be accessed by the employee. Dave Baker, Managing Director of iCOM Works Ltd said: “We would definitely recommend any business to apply for the GO Awards Wales. It feels great to be recognised for the great product that we know we have!”
NWSSP Procurement Services picked up the prestigious Team of the Year Award. The Bridgend-based team is responsible for ordering, storage, receipt and distribution of fast-moving consumable products at regional warehouses and local stores across all Welsh Health Boards and Trusts.
