Work Detail | The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) today announced that prime contractor HRI, Inc., of State College, will continue work on Wednesday, August 31 and Thursday September 1 on approximately six miles of Route 56 in Richland Township, Cambria County and Paint and Windber townships, and Paint Borough, Somerset County. Beginning on Wednesday, the contractor will close the exit ramp from Route 56 Westbound to Route 601 and the entrance ramp from Route 601 to Route 56 Westbound between the hours of 6:00 PM to 6:00 AM. The contractor will also close the Route 601 entrance ramp to Route 56 Eastbound during the same timeframe listed above. The ramps will be closed so that the contractor can perform concrete patching. Overall work on this project consists of concrete patching, diamond grinding, drainage work, guiderail upgrades, milling, and resurfacing. Safety improvements will be performed and will include new signing and pavement markings, traffic signal upgrades, and installation of high tension cable median barrier. A minor structure rehabilitation will also take place on Route 1039 (Twelfth Street) and will consist of a latex overlay and parapet replacement. All work on this $8.3 million project will be completed by September of 2017. |
