Work Detail | The city Water Department re-opened Hudson Avenue between Quail Street and South Lake Avenue after some work was completed on the large sinkhole that opened earlier this month. Vehicles traveling on Hudson Avenue will need to turn south (right) on South Lake Avenue toward Madison Avenue. South Lake Avenue remains closed north toward Western Avenue. Elberon Place remains closed to all except residents of that street. Quail Street is being paved from Elberon Place to Central Avenue Monday and Tuesday, with one lane remaining open during that road work. Crews have been working to repair the equipment that was damaged when a sewer main collapsed Aug. 2, creating a chain reaction of events that led to a sinkhole on the street bordering Washington Park. Water use is still restricted in both Albany and Guilderland. Automatic sprinklers, lawn watering, car washing and filling of swimming pools is restricted until further notice. Hand watering of flower and vegetable gardens is permitted. Albany is a supplemental water source for Guilderland. Exclusions to the town ban also include sprinkler systems on private wells. |
