Work Detail | Automotive Skills Development Council (ASDC) has signed four Memorandum of Understandings (MoU) to enhance its capacity and capabilities in providing variety of learning modules and International level certifications for automotive servicing and curriculum building along with the training of the faculty to meet the needs of the global standards. The MoUs were signed one with ELECTUDE international, second with The International Motor Institute of UK, third with MGR University and fourth with Centre for Polytechnic and advance training. The MoUs were signed at the annual conclave, organised by ASDC, which saw more than 250 senior HR experts, professionals from the automotive industry, private as well as government training institutes. P Amudha, Labour Secretary of Tamil Nadu said "Tamil Nadu has 539 technical training institutes and more than 400 ITI institutes which churn out 150,000 students every year, but it's sad to see that the industry still finds it difficult to get properly trained people. This difference can only be bridged by improving the quality of the training." She further added, "It is important that the young generation in the country put in their hearts to the jobs that they are performing in addition to their hands and minds. This alone will bring in the sense of pride in what they are doing, leading to high quality performance which is critical in leading the country to a leadership position in the world of manufacturing. Bharat Joshi, Guest of Honour Dy High Commissioner UK emphasised that success of British manufacturing was mainly due to the high level of skilled manpower and highly effective system of skill development institutionalised in the UK making it an ideal partner for India. Vinod Dasari, President ADSC & MD of Ashok Leyland highlighted the rapidly accelerating pace of growth in the automotive industry not only in its size but more importantly in the scope of the industry. He recounted there is unprecedented growth in the industry that has taken place during the automotive machine plan period 2006-2016 and mentioned that the second AMP from 2016-2026 lays down a far more ambitious plan for the industry with even higher levels of expectation. These expectation and targets can only be fulfilled with increasing stream of highly skilled workforce in the area of manufacturing and services pertaining to the auto sector. ASDC is industry led initiative promoted by ACMA, SIAM and FADA jointly with NSDC & government of India to enhance the skill of the automotive industry in order to compete with international standards. |
