Work Detail | There are only three days left until IMTS 2016 kicks off in Chicago. Here are just a few of the tooling solutions you can expect to see on the show floor. Broaching, Spline and Gear Makers from Ever Sharp Tools Ever Sharp Tools (EST) is a provider of broach tool, hob, forming rack and spline gages, including CNC manufactured spiral gullet, ring gear, and carbide tools. The company also manufactures, stocks and sells core drills, special drills and milling cutters. The company, family founded in 1990, has grown to one of the world’s largest specialty cutting tool and spline gage companies, with over 500 employees. EST’s tools and spline gages are designed by a team of more than 20 engineers, made with materials including Bohler high speed steel, on CNC machine tools, by well trained, motivated employees. Combining that with a state of the art heat treat, the industry’s best coating and inspection equipment and a custom ERP system with a cleverly integrated “Quality System Module,” assures greater quality. In 2016, EVER SHARP TOOLS, made a USD$4 Million investment, to open and staff a new facility in Michigan. New machines and tools are being sold now. The new factory will open spring 2017. With the recent investment to start up a South Eastern Michigan based workshop/service center and showroom, EST will offer our customer broach tools, hob tools, forming racks, and spline gages, as well as core drills and special drill and mill cutters. Heimatec, a provider of live tooling for the North American machine tool industry, announced that they will offer custom designed and special tooling offerings, in addition to their standard tooling line. Heimatec will design and build custom tools to suit specific requirements for all CNC lathes, regardless of application, brand or size, with the same quality as their standard tools. Heimatec manufactures tools for the most popular machines, such as: DMG Mori Seki, Doosan, EMAG, Emco, Eurotech, Feeler, Haas, Hardinge, Hurco, Hwacheon, Hyundai, Mazak, Miyano, Murata, Nakamura, Okuma, Samsung, Spinner, Takisawa, Victor Fortune and Yama Seiki. THINBIT, manufactured by Kaiser Tool Company, is pleased to announce the expansion of their GROOVE ’N TURN line of dovetail grooving inserts. Dovetail grooving inserts are used to machine O-ring dovetail grooves with 66o undercut angles. The insert design is optimized for strength by utilizing an insert pair to generate the groove form. Insert sizes are .030”, .050, .060, .070”, .080, .090”, .100”, .125” and .150” with major diameters starting at .300”. Available in sub-micron grain carbide grades for ferrous and non-ferrous materials either uncoated or with TiN, TiCN, TiAIN or diamond film coatings. GROOVE ’N TURN dovetail inserts can be used on conventional, Swiss and CNC machines. Toolholders are available in square shank size 5/16” through 1-1/4” and round shank sizes ½” through 1” with straight and 90o presentations. GROOVE ’N TURN dovetail inserts fit existing “L” series THINBIT toolholders. |
