Work Detail Russian Helicopters recently announced that the company has won yet another tender to supply aviation inventory for the Mi-8/17 helicopters belonging to the Air Force of Peru. The contract is expected to be signed in September 2016. Deliveries will take place early 2017. “The victory in yet another Peruvian tender by Russian Helicopters proves that more and more operators choose to buy spare parts and components directly from the helicopter manufacturer,” said Igor Chechikov, Russian Helicopters deputy CEO for aftersales service. “It helps to combat the use of counterfeit spare parts in helicopter repairs, to keep the operator’s fleet in continuous readiness and it boosts flight safety. That’s why we consider this to be a breakthrough in the Peruvian market in terms of aftersales services.” Russian Helicopters concluded the first firm orders with Peru to supply aviation inventory for the Mi-35 helicopters in July 2016. The fleet of Russian-made helicopters in Peru is one of the biggest in the Western Hemisphere. The Mi-8/17 and Mi-24/35 helicopters owned by the Peruvian Air Force provide transportation and fire support for the government forces fighting against drug trafficking and illegal mining operations. The Peruvian side plans to have a number of additional tenders before the end of 2016, in which Russian Helicopters are planning to participate. Russian Helicopters begins Mi-38 certification tests for Russian Ministry of Defense Russian Helicopters also announced that the company is conducting additional certification tests of the Mi-38-2 helicopter to enhance its operational characteristics for further supplies to the Russian Aerospace Forces. Technical features of the helicopter have already been approved by the Ministry of Defense and by the company’s specialists, and all work on further equipping the helicopter, will be completed by 2018. Russian Helicopters will create a wide range of modifications of the Mi-38-2 for various departments of the Russian Ministry of Defense, which include a jamming mode, a medevac version, search-and-rescue and assault transport helicopters as well as modification designed to perform tasks for the Arctic Group of Forces. Currently, Russian Helicopters specialists are working on increasing the maximum takeoff weight of the Mi-38-2 and its maximum flying height. The helicopter will also undergo testing with an added cargo jib and an external sling and on helipads covered by dust, sand and snow. “The potential capabilities of this helicopter combined with its high-performance flight characteristics and possibility to install additional equipment make Mi-38 very attractive for the Russian Aerospace Forces,” said Russian Helicopters CEO Alexander Mikheev. “Together with the Russian Ministry of Defense, our company will perform flight tests to check the compliance of the helicopter with requirements of the army. The Mi-38 helicopters prepared for the Russian Ministry of Defense will be equipped solely with Russian-made assemblies and components.” In addition, the helicopter can be operated in a wide range of climatic conditions, including marine, tropical and cold climates. The first serially produced Mi-38 has been already assembled at Kazan Helicopters.
