Work Detail BREWGOODER, the craft beer firm set up donate its profits to clean water projects around the world, has boosted its board with the appointment of well-known industry figures Simon Hannah and Chris Miller.

The social enterprise, launched by Alan Mahon and Josh Littlejohn in March, has also brought in drinks industry expert Steve Annand as a consultant to scale up its presence in the on-trade.

Mr Hannah is the managing director of JW Filshill, whose international offshoot Craft Beer Clan of Scotland was set up to drive exports of Scottish craft beer. Mr Miller is JW Filshill's commercial director and is also on the board of JW Filshill International.

Their appointment means the Brewgooder board now numbers five, with the duo joining Mr Littlejohn, the founder of Social Bite, Mr Mahon and Stephen McCranor, director of Frame public relations agency, at the table.

Mr Annand is a former commercial managing director of Tennent Caledonian Breweries, and established Glasshouse Drinks, a drinks sales and marketing agency, last year.

Mr Mahon said: “This is an exciting time for Brewgooder. Our crowdfunding programme got us off to a flying start and with the new board appointments and retaining the services of Steve Annand it shows that we want to put beer industry muscle behind the vision of providing 1,000,000 people with clean drinking water through craft beer."

Since its launch in March Brewgooder has raised £60,000 through crowdfunding, and is continuing to seek investors as it pursues its goal of providing clean drinking water to millions of people in developing countries.

It has already formed partnerships with Oxfam, WaterAid and MercyCorps to distribute its funds, with the first project being the installation of solar powered water pumps at a school in a remote village in Dedza, Malawi.

Mr Hannah said: “Both Chris and I are delighted to support Alan and Josh with this extremely exciting venture. This means that when you drink Brewgooder you are providing water and water hygiene education to communities across the world which are vulnerable to waterborne diseases.

"This project is a great example of collaboration across the industry. From production through to supply chain, working with partners across the sector has laid the foundations for a solid business which will do genuine good.”
