32 giant foundations to support one of UK’s largest offshore wind farms CWHI has completed the first of 32 XXL monopiles for ESB and Red Rock Renewables 1100MW Inch Cape offshore wind farm off east Scotland. The components, fabricated at the company’s Qinzhou yard (pictured), include monopiles with outer diameters of 11.5 metres, lengths of up to 110 metres, and a maximum weight of 2300 tonnes. Once installed, the 1.1GW project is expected to generate enough electricity to power more than half the homes in Scotland. CWHI — CNOOD-Wenchong Heavy Industries — said the delivery confirms its growing role in supplying infrastructure for major offshore wind developments in the UK and globally. “Leveraging our state-of-the-art manufacturing facilities, skilled workforce, and industry expertise, we are proud to support the global transition to clean energy,” the company said in a statement. |
