Work Detail With the start of pilot work scheduled for June 25, one of the most emblematic road infrastructure projects in the province of Santa Fe is moving forward. The new bridge between Santa Fe and Santo Tomé, awarded to a joint venture consisting of Lemiro Pietroboni SA, SE.MI.SA., and COCIVIAL SA, now has a detailed execution plan for placing the 136 piles that will support the viaduct. The project, fully financed by the provincial government, includes an investment of $39.811 billion and a construction period of 24 months . The placement of the piles marks the beginning of the so-called critical path of the project, which involves working in the most challenging section of the route: the 1,400-meter-wide Salado River bed. These are reinforced concrete structural elements measuring one meter in diameter and 33 meters deep , arranged in lines of three every 40 meters. The planned work rate is one pile per day , with reinforcements provided by the company Ascindar. The new bridge will have a total length of 1,324 meters and will be built south of the existing bridge, which will be reserved for access to Santo Tomé. The new structure, on the other hand, will channel traffic toward Santa Fe, with two lanes of traffic. The project includes a series of comprehensive interventions being carried out on four simultaneous fronts : the headwaters in both cities and two fronts in the riverbed and floodplain. At the Santa Fe end, the existing pavement will be demolished and two new roadways, each 9.30 meters wide , will be built, consisting of 3.65-meter lanes and 2-meter shoulders. The pavement will be rigid, consisting of a lime-stabilized base, a 20-cm sand and cement subbase, and a top layer of H-35 plain concrete, also 20 cm thick. A new embankment will also be built, a geotextile mat with concrete-filled geocells will be installed to prevent abutment erosion, and LED-lit columns, sidewalks, bike paths, and landscaping will be installed , respecting the existing trees. In the Santo Tomé sector, traffic reorganization is planned, especially on Mitre Street and Mitre Avenue, which will become one-way south-north on its final stretch. These interventions aim to improve traffic flow, structural and road safety , and urban integration on both sides of the bridge. It is worth noting that the project was originally committed to by the national government, but due to the lack of progress, it was taken over by the provincial administration, which carried out the bidding and awarding process in February of this year, with the participation of 25 bidding companies .
