The Neuquén government has confirmed an ambitious construction plan for National Route 22 , a strategic stretch connecting heavily traveled sectors of the metropolitan area. The work, which already includes an agreement with the National Highway Administration, will focus on widening the roadway, constructing overpasses, roundabouts, and redesigning traffic , spanning from the Third Bridge to the Casimiro Gómez roundabout in the city of Neuquén. The project stems from an agreement signed between the National Highway Administration (DNV) and the Provincial Highway Administration (DPV) on February 28 and was recently ratified by Governor Rolando Figueroa through a provincial decree. This agreement authorizes the province to bid, execute, and finance the works , within the framework of a process of transferring national routes to Neuquén jurisdiction. The works include: Duplication of the roadway (from 1+1 to 2+2) over a 4-kilometer stretch , from the bridge over Provincial Route 7 to the Casimiro Gómez roundabout . Construction of a new overpass and an integrating roundabout at the intersection of Casimiro Gómez, Conquistadores del Desierto Avenue, and Route 22. Second bridge over Provincial Route 7 and new connecting rulos to improve access. New roadway duplication , also from 1+1 to 2+2, between the Neuquén River and the elevated crossing with Provincial Route 7 , over a length of 2.9 kilometers . These improvements aim to streamline traffic, increase road safety, and support the urban, productive, and tourist growth of the Confluencia region, which has experienced a significant increase in vehicular traffic in recent years. The provincial government emphasized that the plan is possible thanks to efficient management of public resources , supported by austerity policies, spending reorganization, and strategic planning. Neuquén has demonstrated its capacity to execute road projects with its own funds, which is now strengthened by agreements like this, official sources stated. The Route 22 project is part of an expanding road infrastructure agenda in the province, where more than 600 kilometers of paving are already underway or planned , including key sections of provincial routes in the tourism and production corridors. |
